Born and educated in Germany, he established himself early on as an independent designer, receiving  commissions for sportswear, ready-to-wear and luxury collections in Europe and Asia.

Successful consulting work for Courrèges led to an offer to join the heritage brand’s creative team. He worked as Senior Designer and Head of Design on ready-to-wear under successive Creative Directors, Arnaud Vaillant & Sebastien Meyer (Coperni), Paolo Riva and Yolanda Zobel, while also being in charge of the company’s more commercial divisions - accessories and licensing.

Matthias left Courrèges in 2019 to consult international brands as diverse as Desigual or Dunhill. He currently has his own line of contemporary wrtw, a collaboration with Fabrique, destined for the Greater Chinese market. Appreciating fashion as a global phenomena, he is always excited when projects allow him to meet new people and new challenges.
